Day 9 – York to Retford; 3rd July 2023

Today will be different!  110 kilometres to ride but only 234 metres of ascent.  I might have to work today; no cruising downhill.

Yesterday we had a day off with Paul and Katherine to rest and fettle the bike.  And today it was a later start so we could meet the MNDA team from York at the Minster at 10.30.  Sadly the press didn’t show, but we had a fabulous welcome, chat and a great cheer to send us on our way. Paul guided me out of York, and I was soon on my way, heading south to Selby on road and cycle paths.  It rained (that wasn’t in the forecast!), but I arrived in Selby at the same time as Sue, and we stopped at the Little Miss Muffin Tea Room.  What a lovely bunch!

Great chat and generous donations – what more could I ask?  On I went to Snaith and met Sue again for lunch, and then it was back on the road heading to Retford.  A quick stop at Blizzard Physio in Birocoats to catch up with Dave Tune, who helped me run the London Marathon in 2016.

Sun and wind saw me finally arrive in Retford, and day nine was over.
